Spiritual maturity is commonly thought of in terms of ministerial effectiveness or "performance." This tends to lead to burdensome lives and burnout, on the one hand, and the catastrophic failures caused by lack of inner integrity on the other. Performance is not widely thought of as requiring emotional maturity and personal wholeness. Perhaps just grim determination and some talent. Our aim is to show how spiritual formation in Christ and emotional wholeness are parts of the one life which God intends and makes possible for us. From such a life, love, joy, peace, and performance flow in one harmonious stream. It is the gift of God for us to learn to receive.

A special evening banquet to honor Dr. Dallas and Jane Willard will take place on Thursday, June 28th. This is a separate but related event. See details below.


Topics

Day 1 - Wednesday, June 27
The first day of Heart and Soul features Dr. Jim Wilder on neurotheology, Pastor David Takle on spiritual formation as a relationship of grace and Rev. Chris M. Coursey on how to train the human brain to hear God.

Dr. Wilder trained under Jane Willard at Shepherd’s House and is the leading developer of the Life Model. Pastor Takle developed the Forming program for churches based on Dr. Willard’s vision, intention and means (VIM) and the development of relational maturity. Rev. Coursey leads THRIVE leadership training focused on developing relational skills with God and others so we keep our peace and joy when life gets hard.

Day 2 - Thursday, June 28
The second day features Dr. Dallas Willard who will show that spiritual maturity is a more complete form of emotional/relational maturity built on a larger sense of who we are in relationship to God and others. Dr. Willard is passionate about the transformation of the human soul that will build character and transform how we live. Dr. Willard will teach the following 4 topics:

Day 2 culminates with a celebration of the life and ministry of Dallas and Jane Willard at an evening banquet at La Canada Flintridge Country Club. With Frank Pastore from KKLA as the evening host, friends and colleagues are coming together to bless, honor and appreciate the far-reaching contributions Dallas has made to spiritual maturity and Jane has made to emotional healing and maturity. Few people know the extent of their combined impact. You will want to be there. Tickets are available for $125 per person with the option to sponsor a table of guests on behalf of your organization or ministry. This special event is your opportunity to support the vision and dream of Shepherd's House. Meal includes steak, chicken, side dish, salad and dessert. Purchase tickets here.

Day 3 - Friday, June 29
Application workshops led by presenters who have already been developing significant integrations of spiritual and emotional/relational maturity. You have 4 session blocks in the day to hear the presentations of your choosing led by esteemed presenters who, from their own experience and training, will focus on the integration of emotional and spiritual maturity into the life of the church:

Airport The nearest airport to this event is Burbank (BUR) with the best rates and connections through LAX.

Lodging There are few hotels near LCPC. We recommend Days Inn Glendale about 8 miles from LCPC, located at 450 West Pioneer Drive, I-134 & Pacific Ave, Glendale, CA 91203. Shuttle service is available from Burbank airport. Telephone 818-956-0202. Mention "THRIVE" for a reduced room rate of $75. Traffic conditions are better from Days Inn. Forming will be launched at Heart and Soul!
Forming is an entrance to the Thriving: Recover Your Life program. Forming is for people who want to grow their spiritual maturity by engaging at a deeper level with God. This 12-week module is all about forming your relationship with Jesus! In Forming, you learn more about hearing God and finding your true identity in Christ. You will begin to see yourself through the eyes of heaven and recognize grace as an active force for true change. Discover Forming when you attend Heart and Soul!
